Monday was a slow night on the college hardwood. Just two Top 25 games....In the first game, #8 Marquette beat #22 Notre Dame in South Bend, 71-64. Marquette certainly solidified their legitimacy as a Big East contender, but one thing worth noting: only four players actually scored for the Golden Eagles - Jerel McNeal, who led the way with 27, Wes Matthews, Dominic James, and Lazar Hayward. That's crazy. Even crazier - outside of those four, no one else even attempted a shot other than Maurice Acker, who 0-2 from three. Wow.
Regardless, Marquette is first place in the Big East, at 7-0. Meanwhile, Notre Dame has been reeling as of late, as the game against Marquette marked their fourth straight loss.
In the other game, in-state rivals, #5 Oklahoma and Oklahoma St. faced off in Stillwater. The Sooners won 89-81. Only one important stat: Blake Griffin had 26 and 19.
