Support Sherm Radio!!!

Sherman Murdock is determined to get the job he wants, and he won't let a little thing like sleep get in his way.
Murdock, 21, a senior at Tennessee State University, has been broadcasting on TSU's student radio station, WTST 1600 AM, for more than 72 hours straight. And at press time Monday night he was still going strong.
His goal: Get a job before graduating on Saturday.
And he says he'll stay put at the university's radio station until he gets what he wants.
"I've been offered a production job but I want to be a broadcaster," Murdock said
Ideally, Murdock hopes to land a broadcasting job in a top 25 market — his first choices being No. 3 market Chicago, his hometown; No. 2 market Los Angeles; or No. 1 market New York.
"I believe the sky is the limit here," Murdock said. "I want to show people that if you have a dream, you should go forth and do everything in your power to reach it."

Sears Tower To Get Glass Skydeck....
Sears Tower -- and it's still called that for the time being -- will invite its Skydeck visitors to enjoy a view usually reserved for window-washers and superheroes.
It'll be a walk on the high side as visitors on the observation deck step into glass enclosures that extend 4.3 feet beyond the building. Beneath their feet in dizzyness-inducing splendor will be the city itself, 103 stories below, with an inch and a half of glass between person and pavement.
The attraction, called the Ledge, should open by early June and is part of a multimillion dollar renovation of the tourist spaces at the nation's tallest building, said Randy Stancik, Skydeck general manager.
He said the Ledge was inspired by glass-floored thrills at the Grand Canyon and Toronto's CN Tower. The plan is to attract more Skydeck visitors, especially jaded locals who haven't visited the tower in years.
"This definitely will be something new to take from the experience, a new Skydeck memory," Stancik said. About 1.3 million people visit the Skydeck every year.
Stancik realizes the illusion of a mid-air suspension isn't for everyone. But the daredevils will be enclosed by glass.
Seeing foreheads pressed to the Skydeck windows, Stancik knew people want to look down as well as out.
The four enclosures are on the west side of the tower so you can look straight down to the ground. On other sides, downward views are interrupted by setbacks from the wider floors below.
The enclosures are retractable: they move inside so window-washing equipment isn't obstructed. Stancik said the Ledges will be available in all kinds of weather.
The Ledges are included in Skydeck admission, which jumps a buck today to $14.95 for ages 12 and up. It's $10.50 for kids 3 to 11. The price increase is in preparation for a Skydeck upgrade that also includes new exhibits highlighting Chicago's history, culture and tourism attractions, including a display that lets viewers rise the equivalent of 103 stories above Wrigley Field.
The Skydeck changes are part of a plan to make the iconic building more profitable.
Later this summer, the name will change to the Willis Tower, for a global insurance firm that leased space in the building.
The owners also are considering painting or recladding the building in silver to give it a contemporary look. Also under discussion is building a hotel next to the tower.
An inch and a 1/2 of glass between you and a 103-story fall. I wish I would...

For Black MLB Players, Life At Wrigley Can Be Rough...
Milton Bradley says he's aware of Wrigley Field's reputation for fans who not only boo their own players, but also have a history of getting racial.
He also says he's ready for it.
''I can be like that guy that you watch all the time for whatever reason,'' he said, referring to his track record of angry outbursts and run-ins. ''But I really think I've outgrown it, a lot of the stuff that I did when I was younger.''
Still, this seems at first glance a curious marriage between the Cubs and their newest big-money free agent, who's expected to return from a groin injury during this weekend's home series against the St. Louis Cardinals. And it might prove to be the biggest test of the new man Bradley says he is at this point in his life and career.
Wrigley seems like the last place an African-American player with such a well-traveled reputation for confrontations would choose to sign a multiyear contract. In the last five seasons alone, Cubs outfielder Jacque Jones and pitcher LaTroy Hawkins said they were the targets of racist taunts and fan mail. Jones also said in 2006 that he became the victim of racial slurs and threats on his cell phone when the number got out.
Former Cubs manager Dusty Baker said that same season that he received enough threatening, racist mail in Chicago that his wife and young son no longer would attend games.
Visiting ballplayers are even easier targets for the more vicious slurs.
''I've heard a few things [from the bleachers],'' Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Mike Cameron said. ''But I don't really get into it with them unless a situation calls for it. I try to stay out of those situations.''
Generally considered by players among the roughest crowds in baseball for their habit of booing players on the home team, crowds at Wrigley and Boston's Fenway Park also are considered among the worst by African-American players for a racist element comprising at least vocal minorities.
Besides Jones' experiences, another black former Cubs outfielder who declined to be identified said in a private conversation during a recent spring training that the Wrigley crowd might have been the worst he'd experienced for racist taunts.
''I've heard that from a lot of the players who played there,'' Cameron said.
Los Angeles Angels center fielder Torii Hunter said that was one of the reasons he had the Cubs on his no-trade list for years while in Minnesota.
So what's the potential for a flash-point incident at the intersection of a beer-swilling, slur-spilling lout and a player with a well-earned reputation for not backing down from a perceived wrong?
''You never know what may throw somebody off,'' said Cameron, who was a teammate of Bradley's in San Diego. ''Those are the things you really have to think about. You'd hope people don't get personal, but sometimes it does. And it can be hard on players.
''But Milton has so much ability that I don't think that will come into play because the guy's so good. He's going to be fighting tooth and nail on every single pitch until the last out is made.''

Blago Indicted!!!!

Former Gov. Rod Blagojevich, his brother, and a former top fundraiser were among six men indicted today on political corruption charges, the U.S. attorney's office in Chicago announced. In addition to Rob Blagojevich, 53, and fundraiser Christopher Kelly, 50, charged were Lon Monk, 50, a lobbyist and former Blagojevich chief of staff; John Harris, 47, also a former chief of staff to Blagojevich; and William Cellini, 74, a Springfield insider for decades.
The sweeping indictment comes four months after Blagojevich was arrested and charged with engaging in pay-to-play politics in a major federal complaint that accused him of trading state jobs, contracts and regulatory favors for campaign contributions.
The criminal complaint charged Blagojevich with attempting to sell the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama and seeking the firing of Tribune editorial writers in return for state help on the sale of Wrigley Field. The ballpark and newspaper are owned by Tribune Co. While those allegations are repeated in today's charges, the 19-count indictment also includes allegations that convicted insider Antoin "Tony" Rezko steered real estate commissions to former first lady Patti Blagojevich despite her performing no work and paid cash to Monk for a car and home improvements. The indictment claims Blagojevich attempted to extort a U.S. congressman for campaign cash by withholding a $2 million state grant to a public school in the congressman's district. All told, the ex-governor faces 16 felony counts, including racketeering conspiracy, wire fraud, extortion conspiracy and lying to federal agents. The government is seeking forfeiture of $188,370 from Blagojevich and will try to take his Ravenswood Manor home if needed.
"I'm saddened and hurt but I am not surprised by the indictment," Blagojevich said in a statement. "I am innocent. I now will fight in the courts to clear my name. I would ask the good people of Illinois to wait for the trial and afford me the presumption of innocence that they would give to all their friends and neighbors."

Slept-On Young Gun Of The Week...3/20-2/27
CHI-TOWN STAND UP!!! Just cause the Pistons suck, doesn't mean Will Bynum shouldn't get some love for goin' hard all week. Although Detroit, who has been without A.I., Rip, and Sheed, is just 1-3 dating back to last Friday, don't point the finger at Will Bynum. After making a name for himself during G-Tech's National Championship run in 2004, Bynum had a stint with Golden St. and spent some time overseas before finally landing in The D. He's gotten inconsistent clock this season, but in the past week in roles as a starter and as a 6th man, Bynum's been good for 19 points and 7 dimes. Big ups to Will Bynum.
