NBA Playoffs...

Conference Finals...

Nuggets 103, Lakers 105 (Lakers Lead 1-0)

As I said before, if L.A. and Denver both play their best games - or match each other (which they did last night) - L.A. will win. Denver seemed to be in the driver's seat, but down the stretch, the Lakers had their championship swagger on full display. What that really means is that Kobe was just not going. After the game, Bryant said, "Once I sensed we didn't have the energy, I had to take it upon myself to lead by example". And that's exactly what he did. Entering the 4th quarter Melo had outplayed him, scoring 30 to Kobe's 22. However, by the end of the game, Kobe had 40 to Melo's 39 (he only took 5 shots in the quarter). You do the math.

On another note, Kobe picked up his 5th tech. If he gets two more, he'll be suspended. After the game, he said, "I won't get another one". I believe him.

A couple GREATS were in attendance...

NBA Playoffs...

Round 2...

Scores...

Rockets 70, Rockets 89
Magic 101, Celtics 82

Top Performers...
  • Pau Gasol - 21 points, 18 boards, 3 blocks.
  • Hedo Turkoglu - 25 points, 12 assists, 5 rebounds.
  • Dwight Howard - 12 points, 16 boards, 5 blocks.

Things To Think About...
  • What's scarier: The fact that L.A. can smash a team, while getting just 14 points on 4-12 shooting from Kobe? Or the fact that they don't show up like that every night?
  • I been doggin' 'em, but DAMN Orlando looked good last night. Skip, Hedo, Rashard Dwight, and Pietrus were all on there shit.
  • The losers: How many years does Boston have left? Hearing Paul Pierce in the post-game definitely indicates that they'll be good to go for next year, and with the development of their young contingent of Rondo, Big Baby, and Kendrick "No Smile" Perkins, they should be a strong team for the net few years. Houston's made leaps and bounds this year. With their toughness, the emergence of Aaron Brooks, and the return of Yao and T-Mac, Houston's solidified themselves as a legit title contender.
Conference Finals Outlook...

  • #2 Denver Nuggets vs. #1 L.A. Lakers - This will be a good one. Denver's playing the best ball in The League right now. L.A. is, 1-12, the best team in The League. Both teams have outstanding benches. Both teams have outstanding scorers in Melo and Kobe. Both teams PGs at the helm who have seen it all, in Chauncey and D-Fish. All that being said, if L.A. plays their best game, and Denver plays their best game, L.A. wins. The difference is inside. Led by Pau, Bynum, and L.O., the Lakers have a HUGE size advantage. It's a matter of whether they play with a sense of urgency, and exploit that mismatch. They should. The stakes are higher, they know Denver's playing their best basketball of the year, and, if all else fails, The Black Mamba won't let them lose. PREDICTION: L.A. in 7.

  • #3 Orlando Magic vs. #1 Cleveland Cavaliers - Another great series here. The Inside The NBA guys made some great points about the Magic. Low-key, Orlando, after L.A., may have the best team, 1-12, in The League. They've got HUGE guys in Hedo, Rashard, and Mickael Pietrus who are matchup problems because they can shoot the rock so well. Then you throw in Skip, Courtney Lee, and JJ Reddick, and you're looking a GREAT 3-point shooting team. The problems occur because that's too often all they think about, forgetting they have Dwight Howard, the best center in basketball, in the post. Honestly, they are as good as or better than Cleveland at every position. All that being said, there's one important thing to remember: the Cavs have KING JAMES. PREDICTION: Cavs in 6.

Nike x Kobe x LeBron Commercial Part 2...

I Love It.

R.I.P. Wayman Tisdale...

Former 3-Time All American, NBA forward, and jazz musician, Wayman Tisdale passed away after a two-year bout with cancer.

Read about him here.

NBA Playoffs...

Round 2...

Scores...

Celtics 75, Magic 83
Lakers 80, Rockets 95

Top Performers...
  • Dwight Howard - 23 points, 22 boards, 3 blocks.
  • Rajon Rondo - 19 points, 16 rebonds, 6 assists.
  • Luis Scola - 24 points, 12 rebounds.
  • Aaron Brooks - 26 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds.
  • Kobe Bryant - 32 points.

Things To Think About...
  • Boston lost. Wonder why??? Ray Allen: 2-11, 5 points. When he doesn't shoot well, Boston does not win.
  • L.A., L.A., L.A........Outside of Kobe - who, at 11-27, had a bad shooting night - Pau Gasol, and Jordan Farmar, who's quietly earned his minutes back - the rest of the Lakers team combined for 21 points. Andrew Bynum started at center, and contributed ZERO points. Their bipolar tendencies are SCARY.
  • Just when I was starting to give Pau Gasol respect, he proceeded to get lit up by Scola. How about Kobe putting his hands on Gasol in the huddle.

NBA Playoffs...

Round 2...

Scores...

Mavs 110, Nuggets 124

Top Performers...
  • Carmelo Anthony - 30 points, 5 rebounds.
  • Chauncey Billups - 28 points, 12 assists, 7 boards.
  • Dirk Nowitzki - 32 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists.

Things To Think About...
  • Where Dallas go from here. Obviously, this team won't be getting better. They're solid, but definitely not title contenders.
  • Including this year, Chancey Billups has now been to 8 consecutive Conference Finals. Wow...
  • Denver is smokin right now. If L.A. (sorry Houston) isn't on their square, the Nuggets will, without question, win that series.
  • Givin' it up for Dirk one more time. Save Game 1, he top the 30 point mark every game.

Misc. Video(s) Of The Week...

For you Black Mamba Haters...

Last night...

This may be the sickest...

Said it before, and I'll say it again: Skill for skill, Kobe is as good
Mike. CARPE DIEM!

NBA Playoffs...

Round 2...

Scores...

Magic 88, Celtics 92 (Celtics up 3-2)
Rockets 78, Lakers 118 (Lakers up 3-2)

Top Performers...
  • Kobe Bryant - 26 points, 4 boards, 3 assists.
  • Paul Pierce - 19 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists.

Things To Think About....
  • How BRUTAL are Stan Van Gundy and the Magic. Dwight Howard still hardly gets the rock. And how about Dwight calling everybody out. It'll be in interesting how that turns out.
  • Give it up for Starbury: 12 points. All in the 4th.
  • Again, the Celtics are, mentally, the toughest team in The L. They never get rattled (i.e. come back from being down 10 with 5 minutes to go).

NBA Playoffs...

Round 2...

Scores...

Cavs 94, Hawks 84 (Cavs win 4-0)
Nuggets 117, Mavs 119 (Nuggets Lead (3-1)

Top Performers...
  • LeBron James - 27 points, 8 dimes, 8 boards.
  • Carmelo Anthony - 41 points, 11 rebounds, 5 steals.
  • Chauncey Billups - 24 points, 7 assists.
  • Dirk Nowitzki - 44 points, 13 boards.

Things To Think About...
  • Remember how the Wizards treated LeBron last year? There's one way definitive way to tell that the Hawks spent most of this series watching the King and lacking in their own effort. How many times was LeBron put on his ass???
  • Save Josh Smith and Joe Johnson, the rest of the Hawks starters combined for 2-16 shooting and 7 points. Wow.
  • Inside The NBA raised a great point last night. Could Melo be the best scorer - or at least score the easiest - in the L?
  • Even though Dallas is down 3-1, gotta give it up for Dirk. His numbers this series: 35 ppg, 12 rpg, and 54% from the field.
Dunk Of The Week...

Is it the shoes? He was rockin' Soldier 3's...

Chalk It Up...

Lmao...Nike marketing at its finest.

NBA Playoffs...

Round 2...

Scores...

Lakers 87, Rockets 99 (2-2)
Celtics 95, Magic 94 (2-2)

Top Performers....
  • Aaron Brooks - 34 points, 4 assists.
  • Shane Battier - 23 points, 5-10 from deep.
  • Pau Gasol - 30 points, 9 boards.
  • Paul Pierce - 27 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds.
  • Rajon Rondo - 21 points, 14 boards, 3 assists.
  • Glen Davis - 21 points, including game winner.
  • Dwight Howard - 23 points, 17 rebounds, 3 blocks.
  • Rashard Lewis - 22 points, 5 rebounds.

Things To Think About...
  • Houston looked amazing. But, that was the adrenaline game. Lose your best guy, playing at home, everything's falling. Obviously, it didn't help that the Lakers effort was nonexistent. But I have a feeling L.A. will get in that ass for Game 5.
  • Dwight and Rashard combined for 16-28. The rest of Orlando: 18-57 - 31%.
  • Orlando just seems so fragile. Their decision-making from Stan Van Gundy on down is always questionable. Boston, on the other hand, is, hands down, the most mentally tough team playing right now. You cannot shake them.
Artest ---> Brooks...

As impressive as Brooks was, Artest's (aka Yung LA) pass was even better. Right on the money, from beyond half-court. With one hand. Ridiculous.
