"Hulk" Jordan CP3.II Quickstrike- White/Denim/Mean Green...

This CP3.II colorway uses a combination of white patent leather and blue denim to construct the upper, but the most eye-catching element of the shoe comes by way of the striking Mean Green accents that cover several sections of the upper and the contrast stitching. These green touches have inspired the “Hulk” nickname and give the shoe some real personality. The decorative graphics that cover the heel section of the upper seem to pop more than ever before and the number 61 appears on the heel as a tribute to Chris Paul’s grandfather, who was killed a few days before the point guard honored his memory with a touching 61 point performance.
Release Date: This Weekend

Album Review: This Ain't No Mixtape

Curren$y - This Ain't No Mixtape

After stints with No Limit and Cash Money, Curren$y spent 2008 getting his independent hustle on, dropping 7 mixtapes, and generating a nice buzz in the process. Finally, he's come with the official album, appropriately titled, This Ain't No Mixtape. If you've followed Curren$y's mixtape game, from Higher Than 30,000 Feet to Fin..., you'll hear the difference as soon as you start listening to the album. This Ain't No Mixtape is clean and focused, as opposed to his mixtapes which, as good as they were, were naturally all over the place.

Spitta takes time out on the intro, "The Briefing", to walk through his mixtape history, and prep the listener for what they're in store for. He begins with, "Get It Ya Self", a song obviously inspired by his failed experiences with former record labels. Next up is the single, "Blown Away", which is followed by "Scared Of Monstas" - the only two songs to be released in their entirety prior to the album's release.

Then comes "Elevator Music", one of many smoker's anthems Curren$y supplies on the album. Each of the album's 16 joints are dope, with the standout tracks being, "Blown Away", "The Jets Son", "Sail On", and "Galaxy". He doesn't overdo it with the guest appearances either, with stellar performance coming in the form his team, Fly Society, Young Chris, Mickey Factz, Amanda Diva, and Bun B.

While a couple of the tracks aren't as strong, none are skip-worthy, and the album flows cleanly all the way through. Such continuity should be attributed to Caurren$y working exclusively with production team Monsta Beatz, as nothing seems out of place and there is an clear chemistry between Spitta's weed-influence rhymes and Monsta Beatz's futuristic sounding beats (they sampled The Jetsons theme song on one of the tracks).

It's great to see Curren$y come with his album, as too often rappers like him, who leave major labels, can never, for whatever reason, get their album out. In Spitta's case going independent was the way to go, and he took full advantage of the power of the internet. The album is not in stores, rather only available for download via amalgamdigital.com.

Blown Away...

Album Review: Deeper Than Rap

Rick Ross - Deeper Than Rap

It's been a hell of a year for Ross. He dropped a dope album, Trilla, fought off CO allegations, and got entangled in a much-publicized beef with 50 Cent. The pressure was definitely on for Rick Ross to perform on this album, and with Deeper Than Rap, he certainly doesn't disappoint. Ross doesn't get too innovative on the album, sticking to the standard Rick Ross themes: money, cocaine, women, and addressing the haters. Everything that comes with being a "Boss".

Deeper comes hard right away with the street single, "Mafia Music", then keeps it coming with "Maybach Music 2", "Magnificent" - the official single, "Yacht Club", and "Usual Suspects". Quite a way to start an album. Other bangers include, "Rich Off Cocaine" and "Murder Mami". Of course he addresses Curly and any other critics, specifically on "Valley Of Death" and "In Cold Blood".

Unfortunately, the album isn't exempt of the need for a skip button. Most of the flaws have to do with failed with R&B collabos. Ironically, two of R&B's biggest stars, The-Dream and Ne-Yo, provide vocals on the album's worst songs, "All I Really Want" and "Bossy Lady".

As good as Ross' flow is on the album, the real stars of the album are J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, the production team Ross has gotten up with to create the likes of "Maybach Music" and "Luxury Tax". They've slowly become some of the top producers in the game with their intricate, soulful, and sonic beats. On Deeper Than Rap, they produce 3 of the album's top 4 or 5 songs: "Maybach Music 2", "Yacht Club", and "Rich Off Cocaine", as well as the current single.

Deeper Than Rap is no classic, but it's definitely another solid album from Rick Ross, full with appearences by Kanye West, Lil' Wayne, Nas, John Legend, Avery Storm, and more. Although there are a couple missteps, Ross comes correct, and as long as he's smart enough to stick with J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, he'll be good to go for years to come.

Tony Allen Receiving Death Threats...

Security around Tony Allen was increased Thursday at United Center after a Chicago man issued a death threat against the Boston Celtics guard, The Boston Globe and Yahoo! Sports reported on Thursday.

The Celtics and Bulls had extra security around their benches during Game 3 of the first-round playoff series to keep an eye on Allen. A source said the added security presence was a precautionary measure, according to the Globe.

Allen, who is from Chicago, played nine minutes on Thursday night and did not score in the team's 107-86 win against the Bulls.

Sources told the Globe that Allen has been receiving threats in Chicago for some time. Allen also was threatened prior to a March 17 game at Chicago. He didn't make that trip, however, because of a thumb injury.

"Is that what you're going to write about? Is that what you're going to write about?" Allen said when asked about the threats, then walked away, the Globe reported.

"It's a private team matter," Celtics president Rich Gotham told Yahoo! Sports. "It's just not something that we are going to talk about."

Celtics coach Doc Rivers told the Globe: "It's a team matter. We will keep it in house."

The NBA also declined comment to Yahoo! Sports.

In April 2007, Allen was found not guilty of aggravated battery in a Chicago court. That charge was connected to a fight in August 2005 outside a Chicago restaurant.

Wow. That's definitely some Chicago shit, too...

5th Graders Caught Servin'...

Two Warren Township fifth-graders -- ages 10 and 11 -- have been arrested after police say they were caught conducting a marijuana deal at school.

Details were sketchy, but Warren Township spokesman Dennis Jarrett said a student told school officials he saw a classmate at Brookview Elementary sell a "marijuana-like substance" to another student Tuesday morning.

"We are getting to a state of emergency," said the Rev. Byron Alston, director of Save the Youth, an Eastside social services program. "When you have elementary students selling dope in the school, we've got a serious problem."

According to a police report, an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department field technician later confirmed the substance was 1.88 grams of marijuana -- enough for one or two joints.

The boys were arrested on juvenile charges of dealing and possessing marijuana and taken to the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center. Both were suspended, pending an investigation.

Full story here.

Percy Harvin, Brandon Tate Test Positive...

Wide receivers Percy Harvin and Brandon Tate tested positive for marijuana during February's NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis, two sources told FoxSports.com.

The news could be potentially damaging to the receivers' stock during this weekend's NFL draft. Harvin was considered a first-round pick after leaving the University of Florida following his junior season. Tate was considered a possible second- to fourth-round pick after a solid college career at North Carolina.

Joel Segal, the agent who represents both players, didn't return messages from FoxSports.com seeking comment.

NFL teams received the drug-test results earlier this week, according to FoxSports.com.

Sources told FoxSports.com Harvin and Tate were the only two high-profile players to flunk their combine drug tests, and one of the sources said that fewer than a dozen players tested positive for recreational drugs.

Players who failed the tests are subject to entry into the NFL's substance-abuse program.

Harvin finished his college career with 133 receptions for 1,929 yards and 13 touchdowns and 194 carries for 1,852 yards and 19 scores. He averaged 9.5 yards per carry and 11.6 yards every time he touched the ball. He also posted a strong 4.39 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the combine.

He was at his best in big games, earning MVP honors in the 2006 Southeastern Conference championship game and totaling 171 yards and a touchdown in a victory over Oklahoma in the Bowl Championship Series national title game in January.

He lined up at receiver, running back and quarterback for the Gators but expects to do even more at the next level because several teams have already talked to him about returning kickoffs and punts.

Tate finished his career with an NCAA-record 3,523 career combined kick-return yards. Before tearing two knee ligaments midway through his senior year, he averaged 23.5 yards on his 16 receptions.

Tate, still recovering from his injury, didn't work out at the combine.
