USA Network Says Lupe Is Character Approved
In an industry that responds to mainstream pop and glamour, Chicago-born and raised hip-hop artist, Lupe Fiasco, is breaking out with his emphasis on strong lyricism and narrative. Jay-Z describes him as a "breath of fresh air", and Lupe's musical ingenuity and intelligence has won over legions of fans. Lupe started making mix tapes at 15 and before long, gained a big following on the web. So big that Lupe was quickly dubbed the "future of hip hop" and offered a record deal by Jay-Z. But he turned the offer down, opting instead to form his own label with Atlantic Records. Two albums, eight Grammy nominations, and one Grammy statue later, it's hard to fault Lupe for taking chances. He's using the poetry of his lyrics to tackle everything from drug abuse to giant robots, and it's the overwhelming passion he has for his music that makes it all so engaging. And don't try to pin Lupe down as just a musician-he's also currently writing a novel. It's a natural outlet for such a refreshing and innovative storyteller. Lupe Fiasco is most definitely Character Approved.
Not much to say after that. Good shit Lupe.
