SHAME, SHAME, SHAME...A-Rod Admits Steroid Use...

His voice shaking at times, Alex Rodriguez met head-on allegations that he tested positive for steroids six years ago, telling ESPN on Monday that he did take performance-enhancing drugs while playing for the Texas Rangers during a three-year period beginning in 2001.
"When I arrived in Texas in 2001, I felt an enormous amount of pressure, felt all the weight of the world on top of me to perform, and perform at a high level every day," Rodriguez told ESPN's Peter Gammons in an interview in Miami Beach, Fla. An extended interview will air on SportsCenter at 6 p.m. ET.
"Back then, [baseball] was a different culture," Rodriguez said. "It was very loose. I was young, I was stupid, I was naïve. I wanted to prove to everyone that I was worth being one of the greatest players of all time.
"I did take a banned substance. For that, I am very sorry and deeply regretful."
Rodriguez's admission comes 48 hours after Sports Illustrated reported that Rodriguez was on a list of 104 players who tested positive for banned substances in 2003, the year when Major League Baseball conducted survey tests to see if mandatory, random drug-testing was needed in the sport.

Chris Brown is being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department for allegedly assaulting a female.
According to TMZ.com, law enforcement sources revealed that Brown and an unidentified woman were arguing inside a vehicle around 12:30AM yesterday (Feb. 8) morning when things allegedly turned violent.
Police say they received a 911 call, and when they arrived on the scene, the woman had visible injuries. Brown was not at the scene by the time police had arrived.
Due to the altercation, Rihanna, who was scheduled to perform with Brown at the Grammys, neither appeared or performed at the awards ceremony. A statement from Rihanna's publicist said, "Rihanna is well. Thank you for your concern and support."
In the evening, Brown turned himself in to the LAPD, where he was interviewed by detectives. He was charged with one count felony criminal threats, and his bail was set at $50,000.
The singer has paid his bail, and was released. More on this story as it develops.

NCAA Basketball...

- Barring a major injury or complete collapse, #1 UCONN, playing the way they have been, will be in a position to cut down the nets in March. As long as Hasheem Thabeet continues to play the way he has (17 points, 12 rebounds, 6 blocks Saturday vs. Michigan), there's no way they'll lose.
- Miami is a very good team, and scoring machine Jack McClinton (34 Saturday vs. Duke, 32 Wednesday vs. Wake) is capable of carrying them to the Tournament on his back. Miami's got quality wins over Kentucky and Flordia St., a huge win over Wake Forest, and took Duke down to the wire. Look out for their showdown with North Carolina next Sat.

- Memphis stepped up in a major way against Gonzaga to get their biggest win of the season so far. Since dropping out of the top 25 during non-conference play after losses to Xavier, Georgetown , and Syracuse, the Tigers have started their annual steamroll of Conference USA competition. With such a weak conference, the game against Gonzaga was huge because it could possibly be the last tournament-caliber team they play before March. And they didn't disappoint, winning 68-50, getting 22 from Tyreke Evans, and holding the Zags to 36% shooting.

- 'Nova's looking serious right about now. They killed Syracuse Saturday, 102-87, behind 31 and 10 boards from Dante Cunningham, to win their fifth straight. That streak includes wins over Pitt, Providence, and Cincinnati. Monday's game against Marquette will be a good one.

- Dejaun Blair is a MONSTER. Saturday vs. DePaul: 32 points, 14 boards.
NBA Basketball...

Two days after Cleveland’s superstar recorded an apparent historic triple-double in a 107-102 win against the New York Knicks, the NBA stripped James of one of his 10 rebounds after reviewing game tape. The league said the rebound with 39.3 seconds left should have been credited to Cavaliers center Ben Wallace, who tapped a loose ball that James grabbed.
Wallace finished with two rebounds but probably should have had more as several tip-outs were not scored as rebounds by the stats crew at Madison Square Garden.
A release from the league said: “All NBA games are reviewed to ensure the accuracy of the game statistics.” Wallace benefited from a review in a game at Charlotte on Dec. 6, when a blocked shot originally credited to Zydrunas Ilgauskas was changed to Wallace.
If his triple-double had stood, it would have been the first 50-point game in a triple-double since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 1975. Instead, James lost it and the Cavaliers were dealt a second slap from the league as point guard Mo Williams was not picked—for the second time—as an All-Star reserve on Thursday.

This is garbage. The League's been screwing the Cavs all week for some reason. Bron ain't been getting calls. What's really good? Conspiracy theory.
P.S.. Shout out to my dude Fred for reminding me to post this.
