- The formulas for Boston and L.A. seem clear: Ray Allen must shoot well for Boston to win. Last night: 8 points, 3-13 from the field, 0-5 from deep. In L.A., Kobe must take the initiative from the get-go (i.e. Games 2 & 3) in order for the Lakers to win. That "team-first" mentality was great during the year, but its the playoffs now. I think he's figured that out...

Former Detroit Piston Coach, Chuck Daly, Passes Away...
Daly was voted one of the 10 greatest coaches of the NBA's first half-century in 1996, two years after being inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. He was the first coach to win both an NBA title and Olympic gold.
