In Monday's only Top 25 game, Pittsburgh bounced back from Saturday's loss to Louisville with a 78-60 home win against Syracuse. Sam Young led the Panthers with 22, including 19 in the second half.
Thus far, there is really no way to declare one team the best in the Big East. No team has set themselves apart from the pack - which is a credit to the conference's balanced, talented, and loaded array of teams. Everyone has beaten everyone, and just when you think it's safe to say "___ is the best team in the Big East", they lose; and it's not because teams are choking. The league is just that good. Currently, there are 8 Big East teams in the Top 25, including 6 in the top 15. See if you can decide who's the best:
- Louisville's 5-0 in the conference, and beaten Pitt, Notre Dame and Villanova. However, they started the season 8-3.
- Pitt started off 15-0 and beaten Syracuse and Georgetown.
- Georgetown's beaten UCONN and Syracuse.
- UCONN is the highest ranked of all Big East teams, and is yet to score a major conference victory.
- Syracuse has crushed Notre Dame.
- Notre Dame's beaten Georgetown.
- Marquette is the conference leader, at 5-0.
Yeah, pretty tough choice.
