Top Recruit John Wall May Be In Trouble...

John Wall, the country's top unsigned high school recruit in basketball, has been charged with misdemeanor breaking and entering after police found him walking out of a vacant house in North Carolina.

Wall, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound point guard ranked fifth in the ESPNU 100's Class of 2009, was cited in connection with an April 27 break-in of a Raleigh residence, the police said. Wall, a point guard at Raleigh Word of God, was voted The Associated Press men's prep basketball player of the year for North Carolina in March.

Police said an officer detained Wall, 18, after observing him leaving out the back of the home.

Two minors were also detained and charged in connection with the break-in.

Police said there was no forced entry and nothing to indicate anything was missing from the residence.

Wall has nine teams on his list of potential schools -- Florida, Baylor, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Memphis, Miami, North Carolina and NC State.
Sounds like A.I....

NBA Playoffs...

Rounds 1 & 2...

Scores...

Heat 78, Hawks 91 (Hawks won 4-3)
Mavs 95, Nuggets 109 (Denver leads 1-0)

Top Performers...
  • Joe Johnson - 27 points, 6-8 from Three, 5 boards, 5 steals, 4 assists.
  • Josh Smith - 21 points, 9 rebounds.
  • Dwayne Wade - 31 points.
  • Dirk Nowitzki - 28 points, 10 rebounds.
  • Carmelo Anthony - 23 points, 5 boards, 4 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks.

Things To Think About...
  • Granted, Cleveland ran through Detroit, but is anybody playing at a higher level that Denver? They're scorching right now...
Eastern Conference Playoff Outlook...

  • #4 Atlanta vs. #1 Cleveland - Cleveland steamrolled D-Town. Although Detroit was brutal, the Cavs were - and still are - on a mission. Atlanta, on the other hand, looked mediocre and inconsistent in their series against Miami. And they struggle mightily in the half-court. Although the Hawks have athletes to hang with Cleveland, they don't have the talent to do so. There's a difference. PREDICTION: Cavs in 5.

  • #3 Orlando vs. #2 Boston - This will be interesting. Boston's coming off a historic series against Chicago, surviving Game 7. They're banged up and drained. Orlando's fresh off of a series against Philly, in which, for all they did during the season, they pretty weak. They're battling injuries themselves, but not the way Boston is. The deciding factors: confidence and experience. As tight as the Bulls series was, Boston never looked shook. They'd been their before, surviving 3 game 7's in last years playoffs en route to the Championship. Orlando, however, has got to be questioning themselves. They struggled against Philly and Stan Van Gundy's a problem. I think the intangibles favor Boston. PREDICTION: Boston in 7 (I'd say 6, but Boston seems to like to keep things interesting).

King James Named MVP!!!

The King was officially anointed today. At 24, he's the second-youngest to be named NBA MVP. It was certainly well-deserved, as he led the Cavs to the best record in the L, were 39-1 (I'm not counting the game he didn't play against them) at the crib, all while averaging 28 points, 7.6 boards, and 7.2 assists. LBJ ran away with the voting, bringing in 109 of 121 first-place votes. Kobe was second, followed, by D. Wade, then CP3.

I swear he's not human.

Carl Crawford Racks Up 6 Stolen Bases...

In the Rays 5-3 win over the Red Sox, Carl Crawford tied the modern-day MLB record for most stolen bases in a game. And he made it looks so easy. A couple times Jason Varitek didn't even bother throwing. Crawford was 4-4, with an RBI and and 2 runs scored. Crawford's batting .317 on the season, and leads  the MLB in stolen bases with 17. Carl Crawford is that deal...

NBA Playoffs...

Round 1...

Scores...5/2/09...

Bulls 99, Celtics 109 (Celtics Win 4-3)

Top Performers...
  • Ben Gordon - 33 points, 15-15 from the line.
  • Ray Allen - 23 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks, and a steal.
  • Eddie House - 16 points, 4-4 from deep, 3 steals.

Things To Think About...
  • How good are the Bulls? Were they just peaking at the right time, or did they finally catch on? Again, remember, Boston did the same thing with Atlanta last year?
  • Where do the Bulls go from here? In the off-season: Sign Ben Gordon or wait for 2010? Ben Gordon's heroics were a gift and a curse. He carried the Bulls, but the better he played, the more dolloars he'll be asking for - and he already turned down $11 mil./year last summer...
  • Better free-agent signing: A.I. or Ben Gordon?
Western Conference Playoff Outlook...

  • #5 Houston Rockets vs. #1 L.A. Lakers - L.A. rolled over a subpar Utah team, but never looked amazing and certainly didn't play their best. Houston, on the other hand, looked very good, getting a balanced effort in every W over Portland. The key matchup to look for will be Kobe vs. Ron Artest/Shane Battier. KB24's in for a challenging series (which he probably prefers). However, other than that, the Rockets are overmatched at every position, including the bench, although Yao can go pound-for-pound with Pau. The difference will be the Lakers size and depth, and as long as they don't get too stagnant and comfortable, they should be alright. PREDICTION: L.A. in 6.

  • #6 Dallas vs. #2 Denver - This will be a great series. Both teams are playing their best ball of the year. Both teams smoked their first-round opponents, winning 4-1 over San Antonio and New Orleans, respectively. They're as evenly matched as you can get. Great PGs (although Chauncey should abuse J. Kidd), great scorers (Melo & J.R. Smith vs. Josh Howard & Dirk, and Jason Terry), and plenty of guys to mix it up (K-Mart, Nene, Dahntay Jones, & the Birdman vs. Erika Dampier, Brandon Bass, & Barea). It could really go either way, but Denver's playing at such a high level and defending. PREDICTION: Denver in 6.
