Dunk Of The Week...

J.R. Rider YAMS on two dudes while at UNLV...

"It's Hovi baby, you Kobe maybe, Tracy McGrady, matter fact you a Harold Miner, J.R. Rider, washed up on marijuana"

Speaking of J.R. Rider, here's a bonus....

A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

NCAA Basketball...

So much for Ty Lawson being listed as doubtful due to a toe injury; the boy damn near had a triple-double: 13 points, 9 assists, 8 rebounds. #2 North Carolina topped #7 Duke, 79-71, and while it was close, you never got the feeling that Duke might actually win. With the win, North Carolina wrapped up the ACC title.

Doesn't it always feel like the wheels slowly fall off for Duke every year? Real talk, they were the best team in the country at one point. Started out 18-1. Since then: 7-5. Coach K is an outstanding coach, but his players are so limited (save Gerald Henderson) that there's just no room for error. And having to work so hard to perfect his system in order to make that happen is just too much to ask season in and season out. Take a look...2007-2008: Started out 22-1. Finished (incuding postseason play) 6-5.  2006-2007: First round exit in the Tournament - their first in 11 years. The two season prior to that: Sweet Sixteen exits. Obviously, Duke is held to a higher standard than most teams, but the numbers don't lie. Something's up, and I have to believe it's the kind of players that Duke goes after. They're great players, but not playmakers, and have to work so damn hard just to to compete that eventually, they burn out.

In the past few weeks it's become a Sunday ritual for me: Wake up. Go to work. Watch Michigan St. get it in. This Sunday, they held in down at home against very good, balanced Purdue squad, winning 62-51. Same MSU formula as usual: Kalin Lucas (21 points), nasty D (Purdue - 28% shooting), toughness from Goran Suton (10 points, 11 boards), and contributions from a handful of guys, specifically Delvon Roe (9 points, 8 rebounds) who's played extremely well in the past few games. And most importantly, execution.

Moreover, it was great to see their guys get it done on senior night. You could tell how much wearing the green and white meant to seniors Goran Suton who was in tears, and Travis Walton, Marquise Gray, and Idong Ibok, who all kissed the floor on their way to the bench.

Bid Stolen!!!

College of Charleston bet Davidson in the conference tourney. Does Davidson still get in???

NBA Basketball...

Nothing too extraordinary went on in The L Sunday. While the Magic and Celtics faced off, these games (Orlando vs. Boston vs. Cleveland) no longer mean anything. Teams are banged up, tired, and they're all getting one of the top 3 seeds. It's about who can make it out of a 7-game series with these teams, not who shows up on a given night. Bring on the Playoffs....That being said, Orlando beat Boston in Boston 86-79. Starbury started in place of the injured Rajon Rondo. His performance: 4 points, 3 TOs, 1 rebound, 0 assists.

Highlights: Utah rolled to their 11 straight W. NOBODY wants to see Utah in the Playoffs...The SPurs took care of Phoenix, losers of 5 of their last 7, behind 30 and 9 from Toy Parker...Devin Harris layed 35 and 10 on the Knicks in a NJ W...Houston topped Memphis. Like Utah, I doubt anyone wants to run into the Rockets in the Playoffs. They've won 12 straight at the crib, 13 of their last 17 overall, and are 10-2 since T-Mac hung it up for the season.

LDRS Huarache 2k8

Leaders 1354 x Nike Huarache 2K8...

Nike and Leaders 1354 out of Chicago got together for a special Friends & Family colorway of the Nike Huarache 2K8 Basketball Shoe. Leaders put their creative touch on the basketball shoe by making it more appealing to high fashion consumers and those sneakerheads who would want to wear a pair of these off the basketball court. The all over Metallic Silver upper is simple yet very fashionable at the same time. The inspiration for the colorway came from both the element, Mercury, and other high fashion sneakers. Only 24 pairs exist in the world and they were given away to friends and family this past weekend at Leaders.

Not too weren't too many marquee matchups Saturday night, but:

Here's What Went Down:
  • The second Wade vs. James matchup this week was not as good as the first, but each still had a solid game. James - 14 points, 10 assists, 12 rebounds. Wade- 25 points, 12 assists, 8 rebounds. Mo Williams led the way for the Cavs with 29 points.
  • Dirk led the Mavs to a win over the Wizards with 34 points and 9 rebounds.
  • Unheralded rookie Eric Gordon continues to be the sole bright spot for the Clippers. He had 35 points and 6 assists in their loss to the Pacers.
  • Fresh off of getting his tooth chipped the other night, Mike Conley poured in 31 points and 9 assists in a loss to the 76ers.
  • Brandon Roy had 31 points and 6 assists in a victory over the T'Wolves
  • The Hawks ended the Pistons 4 game win streak with a victory last night.
  • The Hornets continue to roll through the West. On saturday night, they topped the Durant-less Thunder 108- 90 to get their 7th straight W.
  • Also, in the Pacers victory over the Clippers, Jarrett Jack dropped in 25 points. Don't say I didn't warn you.

NCAA Basketball...

Pretty busy day in the college basketball world on Saturday. With Selection Sunday right around the corner, many teams made statements on Saturday, for better or for worse. The highlight of the day was the Pitt vs. Uconn matchup which gave everyone another look at two of the frontrunners for Big East POY, Hasheem Thabeet and Dejaun Blair. While both had respectable games, the showstopper in this matchup was Pitt's Sam Young who led the way with 31 points and 10 rebounds.

Something to keep in mind: Pitt's 2-0 vs. UCONN this season. Should these two meet again in NY for the Big East Tournament, can Pitt beat UCONN 3 times??? We'll see...beating a team three times in a row, is one of the toughest tasks in all os sports.

What You Need to Know...

#3 Memphis continued their domination of C-USA with a 74-47 victory over Tulane. That's 3 straight seasons of going undefeated in conference. Remarkable.... Texas A&M gave a nice boost to their tournament hopes with a 96-86 victory over #12 Mizzou. The Mizzou loss eliminated them from Big 12 title contention.... Troubled #15 Marquette dropped another game, this time to Syracuse in OT, 86-79. #25 'Cuse locked up their bid with this one...#5 Oklahoma took care of Oklahoma State 82-78 behind 33 and 14 from Blake Griffin...#9 Kansas outlasted a surging Texas squad 83-73 to top off a fantastic year in Lawrence and repeat as Big 12 Champs.... In the ESPN nightcap, #6 Louisville got a nice win over West Virginia in Morgantown 62-59. With this win, the Cardinals captured the Big East title. Crazy considering they're probably not even the best team in the league...Florida likely locked up a bid with their 60-52 victory over Kentucky who may now need to win the conference tourney to get in the tournament...#18 Xavier fell again on the road, this time to Richmond. I like the Musketeers, but these road woes (lost 4 of last 5 road games) are not a good look heading into the postseason....By the way, Steph Curry had 43.

10 Wackest Rapper Clothing Lines....LMAO

Read the article here.

I love it. There's very few artists who have been able to come with a respectable clothing line. Brands like Roc-A-Wear and Sean John, certainly sell because of their respective owners names, but they're also quality products. These other dudes just throw their name behind the brand, and make shirts with big ass, obnoxious logos, made of bogus material.

This list had to be made.

T.O. To The Bills??? Believe It...

My jaw dropped when my dude PG broke the news to me. I still don't what to think. It's just random as hell. But bottom line: T.O. got his bread, and I'm sure that's all he (or Drew Rosenhaus) cared about. Peep what Rosenhaus said:

"[T.O.] thanks the Cowboys organization for releasing him and adding to his bank account".

Lol, wow.
