NBA Basketball...

The League was pretty much deceased Tuesday night. Highlights: The Cavs fought back from a 19-point deficit with the help of a 33-10 run to end the game, behind a LBJ triple-double. The King finished 31 13 boards, and 11 assists....Utah won its 12th straight.

Rudy Fernandez Fallout...
Los Angeles Lakers forward Lamar Odom will take the hit for his role in a scrum with the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday night.

The NBA announced on Tuesday that Odom will serve a one-game suspension without pay for leaving the vicinity of the bench during the altercation. He will serve the suspension when the Lakers play at Houston on Wednesday.

The incident occurred after Lakers forward Trevor Ariza delivered a hard foul on Blazers rookie Rudy Fernandez in the third quarter of Portland's 111-94 victory. Fernandez spent the night in the hospital with a bruised chest and injured right hip. The swingman was released from the hospital Tuesday afternoon. He was listed as doubtful for Portland's game against Dallas on Wednesday night.

NBA officials reviewed the play but determined Tuesday that Ariza will not face further discipline beyond his third-quarter ejection for a flagrant foul 2.

LT Staying Put

LanDainian Tomlinson and the San Diego Chargrs restructured the final three years of his contract in a deal that gives the team some needed cap room and it gives Tomlinson more job security.

Complete details of the breakdown weren't available Tuesday night. According to a source, Tomlinson won't take a pay cut from his $6.725 million salary in 2009 but the deal was restructured to give the team a cap break in 2009. Tomlinson's cap number in 2009 was scheduled to be $8,791,666.

General manager A.J. Smith sounded relieved that any uncertainty over L.T.'s future was over.

"The way I'm looking at it, L.T. has helped us on the field and now he's gone a step further and he's helped us off the field," Smith told The Associated Press.

"I'm just happy that it worked out," Smith said. "I felt comfortable that it had a chance. We wanted him back, he wanted to come back. Everything was as smooth as it can be in negotiations."

Full story here.

This is all cool. But LT getting back to putting up numbers like he used to is ultimately the best solution to this problem.

NBA Basketball...Flash Goes For 48!!!

And I continue my D. Wade for MVP Campaign. His line Monday night vs. the Bulls: 48 points. 12 assists. 6 boards. 4 steals. 3 blocks. 15-51 from the field. 50 minutes. A three on the run for game.

That ups his March scoring average to 38, and his average in the last eleven to 36.5....Like I said: D. Wade For MVP.

Other League Highlights:

Ben Gordon had 43, and D. Rose had 23 and 9 boards in 55 minutes - more than anybody including Wade...Atlanta snapped N.O.'s 7 game win-streak...Portland banged the Lakers. It ws their first ass-whooping in a minute, and just the 5th time they've lost by double digits this season.

I'm an A.I. fan. One of my favorite players. But it might be best for Detroit/Rip Hamilton if he just sat out the rest of the season. The numbers don't lie:
  • Detroit's record since Iverson went Feb. 25: 5-1. Including wins over Orlando (2), Boston, and Denver.
  • Before his injury: They'd lost 8 straight (including the game he went out).
  • Record when he went out: 27-29. Record now: 32-30.
  • Rip's scoring average on the season: 17.7. Since The Answer's injury: 27.4 (he's led Detroit in scoringin  5 of the 6 games).
I'm just sayin'.
